Positioning myself as a reformed artifact of my ancestors, returning to a place they exploited, and recontextualizing my relationship with that environment.
I wrap the processed copper around myself, merging as the extractor and extracted return to the source.
I collect and return my sweat to the earth, giving salt and water back to the land where both have been violently stolen.
I dig a hole, reappropriating an action of taking/extracting as one of giving/offering. Offering myself to the earth to allow it to act upon me, and proposing my potential for rebirth.
Performance as a part of La Wayaka Current Desert Residency program in the Atacama Desert, Chile.
