A Cleaning, 2018

Materials: Bucket, Warm Water, Broom, Cloth

The intimate bond between a female body and space through the act of cleaning, as an act of care. The Sisyphusian task of cleaning a place which your ancestors have violated, a futile attempt at total erasure of the past, an attempt at complete rebirth. The dirt increases with the effort, soils the cleaner and the land, and the mark is deeper than it was before the act. Cleaning of self, cleaning of space, cleaning of land as a foreign imposition, as power.

Performance as a part of La Wayaka Current Desert Residency program in the Atacama Desert, Chile.
